QCIF has made the difficult decision to cease its Aspera service, with the final day of use of Aspera Shares and Aspera Drive being Friday, 15 December.
QCIF’s Nextcloud service, which continues to see strong uptake, can be used instead of Aspera. Nextcloud is more sustainable as a long-term service for delivering “synch-and-share” capabilities on QRIScloud.
QCIF introduced Nextcloud in May this year as a one-stop shop for researchers and support staff to access and manipulate data wherever it is stored, using whatever device is preferred.
Nextcloud is available to all users with QRISdata collections stored at QRIScloud’s Brisbane node.
Unfortunately for users with QRISdata collections located at the Townsville node at JCU, Nextcloud is currently unavailable. QCIF apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
Instead of using Aspera, JCU researchers can use the standard access mechanisms available through QRIScloud, such as SSH, SCP, SFTP, and rsync.
Once data storage fabric MeDiCI is available at JCU, expected in 2018, users there will be able to transition across to the Nextcloud service.
