This was ResBaz Brisbane's fourth year, returning to its inaugral home of QUT.

QCIF and its bioinformatics arm, QFAB, were both proud sponsors of this year's ResBaz Brisbane, which had more than 200 attendees, including about 40 volunteers.

ResBaz festivals are held worldwide, promoting the digital literacy emerging at the centre of modern research.

At ResBaz Brisbane, an array of speakers gave their thoughts on the digital landscape in research, including Queensland Chief Scientist Prof. Paul Bertsch, research leaders, such as Dr Michelle Wykes (QIMR) and Prof. Ruth Bridgstock (Griffith and QUT), and a selection of early career researchers shared their lessons learnt with the next generation of researchers.

There were 19 workshops covering all research disciplines, from CRISPR target design and RNA-Seq workshops, Open Refine for social scientists, image analysis and data visualisation, Tinker humanities workshops and more.

Plenty of stalls helped inform attendees about the resources available to them, and activities and games throughout the three days ensured that not only were researchers building networks across Australia, they were also having a fantastic time doing it!
