QFAB will help deliver a workshop at an international bioinformatics symposium in India later this month.
As a plenary speaker, QFAB Head of Computational Biology Dr Gareth Price will deliver a talk via videoconference about bioinformatics platform Galaxy Australia at the Punjab-based International Symposium on Bioinformatics (InSyB2019).
Gareth’s talk on Sunday, 22 December will occur during a dedicated Galaxy workshop day for participants to learn analysis of next generation sequencing data using the Galaxy platform.
The Galaxy Australia team will remotely support the workshop, hosted by Dr Sonika Tyagi from Monash University, who worked closely with the Galaxy Australia team in developing the training content.
Gareth’s presentation will cover the open and global nature of the Galaxy analysis platform, its deployment in Australia and the role Galaxy Australia is playing in helping regional Galaxy services.
The invitation to speak at InSyB2019 follows the highly successful attendance at the International Conference on Bioinformatics (INCOB2019), held in Jakarta, Indonesia, 10–12 September, by representatives of the Galaxy Australia team and the Galaxy Project.
The International Symposium on Bioinformatics is a two-day annual event of the Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet).
Founded in January 1998, APBioNet has organisational and individual members from more than 27 countries in the region, from industry, academia, research, government, investors, and international organisations.
APBioNet is spearheading a number of key bioinformatics initiatives in collaboration with international organisations and industry partners. Specifically, improving the bioinformatics network infrastructure, facilitating the exchange of data and information, developing training programs, workshops, conferences and symposia, and promoting regional collaboration in the field of bioinformatics.
